Arkansas has a unambiguous animal cruelty law on the books. It provides for escalating fines and prison sentences for repeated animal abuse – up to a Class D Felony imposing up to 1 year in prison, $1000 fine, 90+ days community service and court-ordered psychiatric evaluation, counseling and treatment, to be paid by the offender. PETA, Humane Association, ASPCA or private citizens who want to put an end to this disgusting practice should file suit against the pilot, sponsors, organizers and promoters of the Yellville Turkey Trot. Here's the Arkansas statute:
