Re: “Entering the Times/Root Cafe beard-growing contest? Don't miss the shave-in tomorrow

I refuse to shave my beard in order to participate, but I'd happily volunteer to judge.

Re: “The bathroom wall

The scene here is great. I don't understand most of the comments about there being 15 people at local shows. Sure, it happens from time to time, and there are certainly a few criminally underappreciated bands, but you frequently find 100+ people at a local show at the White Water or Sticky's. That's infinitely better than I can say of other bigger cities I've lived in. Memphis has a hallowed past and great acts continue to pour out of that city, but it's like pulling teeth to get a local to draw there. The local scene in St. Louis, aside from some of the wonderful people involved in it, is an absolute travesty. It seems a lot of people here have no idea what we have here and how truly fantastic it is and how unusual it is to find in most places.

And, for good measure, Kris Allen is a twat. It's stupid to make comments like that on national television over things you know nothing about. Dude was a church singer, what clue would he have about anything?
