Re: “Musing over Miss Arkansas

After initially reading this "article", I felt compelled to respond. To be fair, I looked into this reporter's other stories to get a feel for the writing style. As suspected, this reporter has a style of writing that I can only guess is suppose to offer levity in sarcasm. Her writing depicting female football players is just as devoid of fact but full of the same sarcastic slant. Cheree, if you ever want to get out of the ditches covering topics that are clearly of no interest to you, then I suggest that you take a leap toward education and educate yourself on your information before you report on an event. While we do not all have the same passions and/or hobbies we should have the same class to refain from voicing a negative outlook to others. As a professional, you of all people should know how the power of the pen can carry your voice. Next time you are assigned a piece that you clearly do not have experience or interest in, I challenge you to do a little research! Reverting to sarcasm to hide your lack of factual reporting is only hurting your career. Imagine the response you would get if you apologized, attended another pageant and actually reported from the hearts of the ladies competing. It is possible to treat others as you would like to be treated, try it, I'll bet you will like it. Additionally, while many have already enlightened you as to the serious side of pageants there are lighthearted fun facts of pageantry that I bet you'd find hilarious. For example, next time you see a pageant veteran, ask her how many uses there are for duct tape.
