Taylor parade set Friday

THE CHAMPION: Jermain Taylor.
  • THE CHAMPION: Jermain Taylor.
A parade in downtown Little Rock honoring new world middleweight champion Jermain Taylor is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, culminating at the Riverfest Amphitheatre about noon. with a rally for the new titleholder and Little Rock native. The parade will start in front of the Capitol, head east, turn north on Broadway and then east again on Markham. The parade will proceed to the Clinton Presidential Center and back to the amphitheater. The 26-year-old Taylor won a split decision over Bernard Hopkins last Saturday in Las Vegas, ending Hopkins’ 10-year reign as middleweight champion. (NOTE: The parade route was changed after we went to press with our print edition and so it carries a differing parade route. This one is the final route.)
