Re: “Hot Springs feuding over homeless, duck parking

The biggest waste was the $3 M plus that the City Manager (Lance) spent on a "Study" of a location fresh water intake against the Health Department. All that and he is still here. I agree that our priorities are misplaced. Stand by for the A & P is gearing up for another 1% increase in the Hamburger Tax to build a Sports Arena. How about taking that 1% to fund a homeless shelter near the convention center. Naw, the business people would not go for that.

Sorry "Sound Policy" I'm not. Also I don't argue with people who think so little of their own opinion to not provide their own name.

I listen and extract valid points by people like Pamela. I heard what the mayor said. The remark was there was direction to go for the homeless. She stated that many of the churches and places like Potter's Clay have been used. Also that space was limited. She and the others did not vote against "Safe Haven", they voted to preserve a neighborhood in accordance to the adopted city codes. If they were to ignore the code they should abandon all hope of an incorporated city. If the building had been located in your neighborhood, would you have changed your thinking? Safe Haven has it's own problems. They stated less than 10 employees yet were to house, feed, entertain, secure the needs of 60-120 residents. 24 hour security alone takes 4-5 full time employees. Few if any were against the idea of Safe Haven, it is under planned, and under funded.

Actually if those who speak out against the Mayor would do their homework they would find that she most likely does more to assist the underprivileged in her private home than the above combined. Max, you had my attention and support until you made that remark. Again the Mayor is not against tourist, but with closed minds like yours and your followers there is no convincing you of that. Her statement was we need to be realistic in the reporting of events. Basically not lying. BUT not to worry the attendance will be much less this year with Lance at the helm.
