In nearly 20 years, I have never seen a parent declared unfit for only having a two bedroom apartment for two daughters. Theres more to that story. And, cops can't just assume relatives are fit and give a child to one ... Custody continues to remain in the incarcerated parent as well, which may not be appropriate. It's a complicated set of facts we deal with in nearly every single case, and it often requires serious stamina, endurance and time on the part of a caseworker, often young, and definitely way underpaid. i believe caseworkers generally try their hardest, under extremely difficult circumstances, and get little thanks for it. We need more $$ and more bodies. Pretty obvious. But Arkansas will instead pay to put the Ten Commandments on our state grounds, and to cover lawyer fees to defend clearly unconstitutional legislation passed by our state representatives. Bravo.
