The week that was Sept. 19-Sept. 25

It was a good week for …

TEMPORARY INSANITY. Last week's TWTW gave the wrong score for the Razorbacks' 41-38 loss to Alabama.

HISTORY. The inspirational story of Central High 1957 was heard throughout the land. The Little Rock Nine won again.

COURT OF APPEALS JUDGE WENDELL GRIFFEN. The state panel that disciplines judges dropped all charges against him, ending a two-year effort to punish him for his public remarks on political issues.

ARKANSAS WARRIORS. More than 200 soldiers with Arkansas's 875th Engineer Battalion arrived home from Iraq.

LITTLE ROCK. AT&T announced it would establish a new facility in Little Rock that would create 175 jobs.

GAMBLERS. Lt. Gov. Bill Halter submitted to the attorney general's office a proposed constitutional amendment that would legalize lotteries in Arkansas if approved by voters. The attorney general must decide whether the proposed ballot title is acceptable.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS. Seventeen Arkansas districts approved millage increases for school improvements.

HOUSTON NUTT HATERS. See below.

It was a bad week for …

RAZORBACKS. The Hogs lost to Kentucky 42-29, dropping to 1 and 2 for the season and 0 and 2 in Southeastern Conference play.

SCOFFLAWS. The city of Little Rock began applying the iron boot to the vehicles of those who habitually ignore parking tickets, immobilizing the vehicles until their owners pay up.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK SCHOOLS. Over the objection of the School Board, which fears loss of tax revenue, the North Little Rock City Council authorized the creation of four new tax increment financing districts that supposedly would benefit the city through economic development. The new districts are of questionable legality.
