The problem is not with the school -- whether Central High or Little Rock Christian. The problem is with public money (although not tax receipts, still earned through a public entity) going for an advertising buy that no disinterested person would make on its merits. Maybe $40k for a sign at Dickey-Stephens or War Memorial, where tens of thousands will see it every year. But a high school football field? Verizon's expense at Central doesn't matter because it wasn't public money.

And there is this question: how much did the other field advertisers pay for their turf ads? What's the going price for turf ads? Did the citizens of Little Rock get fair market value?
