It is truly a shame that a follow up article would be printed WITHOUT an apology. The author should either stand by her words, or retract the first article, as it was filled with appallingly inaccurate descriptions of Black art, particularly the suggestion by the author that the artist's subjects needed faces. Why would the author pigeon-hole her own work by focusing on the faces? Wouldn't those who view the art, then begin to subconsciously decide that the "faces" weren't familiar? Oh wait, I guess that would apply to the author of the article, hence, the strong suggestions that Ms. Strong acquiesce......

There is no way on earth the author understands art. To say that Ms. Strong paints cartoons is like saying Shakespeare wrote "Mad Libs". Those who truly know art will see that Sondra has created something rare and special and should not be reduced to cartoon references. There is nothing cartoonish about the beauty of black women and children.
