Re: “Harrison fights racist reputation

I have friends in Cabot. They have NEVER treated me differently, but I was recently approached by a guy that lives there. He wanted to have a "secret relationship". Guess he still thinks it's 1957 here in AR. Smh.

Re: “Harrison fights racist reputation

I have to admit as a Black/African-American/United States citizen (because labels are stupid!) that I've had reservations about visiting Harrison. When I turned 18, my best friend Jennifer, White/Caucasian/United States citizen, and I decided to go to Eureka Springs to see the Passion Play for our birthday (back in 2003). We lived in Southeast Arkansas. On the drive up, her mom decided to stop at the WalMart in Harrison. I was dressed like a normal teen at the time: tight jeans, halter top that showed ALL of belly button area. Yeah, I was foxy, lol. As we walked into the store, I felt like everyone was staring at me! At first I thought it was because of how I was dressed...then things started to feel weird. No one said anything. Only the buggy-boy seemed to have a problem: he was paying so much attention to me--and NOT the buggies--that he ended up crashing them!

Re: “Photos by the children of the incarcerated

I wish that I could attend this event. I have often wondered about the children that remain when there parents are jailed or imprisoned. It's time for someone to give them a voice.
