Re: “'This is not your grandfather's America': a Q&A with Little Rock Police Chief Kenton Buckner

Let's see: Two officers are working off-duty on private property. Something goes wrong, very wrong. The two officers, working off-duty, have no liability coverage, and therefore have no money for legal counsel in the subsequent federal lawsuit. So the city attorney represents both officers "on his own time," and negotiates a $900,000 payment from the city to clear these off-duty officers in the matter. The city is operating a private security company, taking all the legal liability risks, and collecting not one cent in fees. That's one hell of a business - for the off-duty officers.

Re: “Filibuster may lead to gun control votes

"The idea that Sen. Boozman thinks that suspected terrorists should be able to buy weapons is indefensible. ..."
Wow, this is a page right out of the Republican playbook. Connect a politician to terrorists for not stepping on the bus of knee-jerk solutions. I'm no supporter of either Eldridge or Boozman, but I think it's a stretch to say one guy supports arming terrorists because he didn't do something another guy thinks he ought to.

Re: “The bigoted past of new state drug director Denny Altes

A couple corrections to definitions of criminal behavior in a bill authored by Sen. Altes now makes Arkansas a constitutional carry state, or so I read on numerous Internet sites.

Re: “Don's Weaponry, small gun shop since 1986

A lefty rag? I don't care what anyone says, that's funny considering the radical bunch who founded Arkansas Times.

Re: “Deputy U.S. Marshal Bass Reeves haunted the nightmares of desperadoes in Indian territory

Morgan Freeman is a bit long in the tooth to represent Bass Reeves throughout his career, but he would be a great narrator along the lines of Mattie Ross in True Grit.

Re: “I was wrong about UA

What's so "secretive" about the Razorback Foundation, Inc., an Arkansas nonprofit. Frank Broyles received $387,000 in speaking fees and Bobby Petrino received $200,000 during July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010. The foundation's Form 990 is available on the Internet. Also lists the salaries of Horton, Debryin, Rochelle and Dicus.
