Re: “Villines demands city contribution for additional jail beds

The $12,000 is for the entire quorum court, which would be $800 each for the entire year.
That is $12,000 out of a $63 million county budget.

Re: “Supreme Court rejects O'Brien request

The last time I checked, the Circuit Clerk wasn't an appointed position by the judges. The Circuit Clerk works with the judges, not for the judges.

Re: “Living off the fat of the legislature

If by legitimate travel claims you mean attending committee meetings that you are not even a member of just so you can get reimbursed because you have never had a real job, then you and I differ on what a legitimate claim is.

The election commission and clerk's office work in tandem on elections. The commission runs the polling locations and counts the ballots while the clerk oversees the accuracy of the voter rolls and who is eligible to vote. I would think maintainig accurate voter rolls would be a fairly significant part of an election.

Re: “Living off the fat of the legislature

Radical Centrist,

Reading every page of every document filed, some documents are in excess of 100 pages, to see if social security numbers are in them would not be practical. It would create lines out the courthouse with people waiting to file their documents. I am assuming that is why the Supremem Court said the filer should know what it is they are filing.

Re: “Living off the fat of the legislature

Stewart, the Arkansas Supreme Court has ruled that it is the responsibility of the filer (attorney) to make sure that certain personal information in court records is not in the documents filed in the clerk's office. Read the law before making an uninformed post.

As for Mark Martin, the Tea Party extremist that he is, he had better get used to talking about milking the taxpayers dry for his mileage reimbursements because this subject is not going away.
