Re: “Republican plays race card in Senate special election

Thanks Max for being the one media person to get it right in reporting Mr. Edwards' statement regarding his positive working relationship with each council member, which is contradictory to the Mayor's press conference! When Mayor "Republican" Jill Dabbs got too close to the flame and getting exposed, she ran to the media to use her favorite tactic of deflecting and blaming someone else (in this case the city council). Now I want to know more about the $1 million c.d. that she cashed in without discussing with the city council, the problem with city finance records being removed from the computer system from someone other than the finance department, and the problem with the council being given inaccurate and conflicting financial information for about a year or more. I understand an outside computer contractor had been hired while Mr. Edwards was still working, for the purpose of restoring those missing financial computer records. Will they continue their work now that Mr. Edwards is no longer the finance director? And add to that the fact that a forensic auditor had been hired to delve into the cesspool of city finance records. This mayor ran on a platform of transparency, but is anything but transparent. Transparency has more to do with honesty and openness than it does with running to the press to spin a story.

Re: “Mark Biviano linked to hit-and-run UPDATE

'Interesting', your comments are not so much! You'd love to cover up the fact that all these transactions took place after the big reveal. They had to track him down and then the transactions took place. It's unfortunate that she quoted 11 thousand instead of 11 hundred, but that could have been an unintentional mistake on her part. Afterall, she's the one that people like you are trying to use to deflect the fact that he did not wait for the police....hmmm, wonder why? Could it be that he'd downed a little too much bourbon? We may never know because he left before the police arrived. And furthermore, shouldn't someone who hit your vehicle take out their proof of insurance, vehicle information, etc! Only someone with something to hide would run from the scene, or maybe someone who thinks they are above it all.

You can make a big deal out of her slip of saying 11 thousand (instead of hundred) but it doesn't shift blame! If you think in those terms, then how can you account for his original statement that it was her fault and that she hit him, which he later changed. He should have yielded to WHOEVER was driving by. Stop tryiing to blame the victim!!!!!

Re: “Mark Biviano linked to hit-and-run UPDATE

This wreaks of favoritism and a cover up. Why in the hell would she and her husband spend time trying to track him down if he had left his business card. And a business card really isn't enough proof of identity as anyone can have cards on hand from other people.

Norma, I agree that we owe a BIG THANKS to Max Brantley. He is tireless in his quest to get information out there. The Arkansas blog is the best in the country thanks to Max and the other reporters on the blog.

JUST A REMINDER: We all need to vote on this blog for our favorite blog, the Arkansas Blog. It just takes a minute or two to vote....go to Best of Arkansas at the top of the blog and be sure to vote!!!

Thanks Max for your tireless work to keep us all informed.
