Re: “Helena councilman does it again

The problem in Helena-West Helena is that no one is ever held accountable. No one stands for us. We yearn for justice but we are ignored. You can come here and kill someone and based on who you know you wont even be held accountable. Do not let the smooth talking suit wearing men tell you anything different. I have lived here all of my life. Look at how Joe St. Columbia is acting, he acts as if he knows he has nothing to worry about. Who is going to hold Joe accountable? Let's look at the Mayor. The city has to lay off alot of school teachers and others who work for the school district and they are asked to understand and Hollowell (whatever his name is) is saying it is something they must do and he is correct they must do it. No money no jobs, unnessary jobs equals debt. This same hollowell is one of the mayor strongest supporters so it comes as no surprise that hallowell did not call the mayor out on his selfishness in asking for a 78,000 salary. But another city council man did and it was classic! You all should hear the tape, of how ashamed he was to answer. He had no choice to answer, well he never did really but his response did.
When he was denied because the city can not afford it, the city shut down. How selfish and cowardly is that. Then not to long later the city was up an running and I thought he took the 35,000 in salary but it was reveal by Chris Franklin during a meeting that he (major) had indeed gotten what he has asked from a city that is beyond broke. He got it not because he deserved it but because it was done behind close doors. No one has guts, heart or true grit. Who can we call if we are tired of a def mayor that only hears what he wants to hear? I listen to them argue like children. Hallowell talking to everyone like they are beneath him, strickland never having a true opinion but almost always going with what the other 3 have to say. St. Columbia never stood out to me before this. Everyone that was against the old mayor is for the new and vice verse. They are using the tactics that where used against them, do not even get me started on that budget. Where is our justice, when will someone be held accountable for this toxic garbage in our city council. Everyone on the council is not jaded but the ones that are they are so consumed by there personal feelings that they are not for us they just make themselves believe it. Some of them are fighting to stay balanced and out of the pettiness. There is concealed racism is in this town, but it is in alot of places. With time comes change but there is no change here it is just masked. So anyone that has the power please come down here and investigate. Investigate why so many solvable crimes are not solved. Investigate why this city is broke and please investigate the people in charge because someone needs to be held accountable. I do not think the mayor’s job is easy but I do think he is it for the power and money and not for the people there is a difference. We are not def, we are not ignorant but we are tired yet we are ready to fight. I thank Jarrett for having courage, I thank Chris for having enough pride in himself and this city to call the mayor on his actions.
