GHOST HUNTERS 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13 Sci Fi Channel (Comcast Ch. 36) While in Arkansas you’re as likely to be sweating through your shroud as you are to be wearing a jacket on Halloween, Tenth Month usually rewards us with at least a few of those spooky, windswept nights that are perfect for telling ghost stories. Given that, October is a good time to check out the Sci Fi Channel’s new reality show, “Ghost Hunters.” A group of workaday stiffs from Rhode Island — a teacher, a plumber, a factory worker, an office manager and a telemarketer — transform after dark into TAPS: The Atlantic Paranormal Society. Their mission: to go lurking around, trying to find scientific evidence of ghosts. If you’ve got spooks, they will travel. This week, a girl’s bedroom holds something scarier than pink taffeta, Britney Spears posters and diary entries about the dreaminess of Aaron Carter. Visit the offical TAPS website. CONSPIRACY?: TWA FLIGHT 800 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8 The History Channel (Comcast Ch. 70) On July 17, 1996, TWA Flight 800 took off from JFK on its way to Paris. Ten miles off the coast of Long Island, the plane erupted into a ball of flame and fell into the Atlantic, killing all 230 passengers on board. As the NTSB and FBI moved in to investigate, they discovered something disturbing: reports of a missile-like object rising up and hitting the plane just before it exploded. Though the NTSB eventually ruled the crash was due to a spark in a center fuel tank, charges of cover-up and conspiracy have circulated since. In the first in a new series appearing Sundays at 9 p.m., experts try to separate fact from fantasy. Future topics: FDR and Pearl Harbor, Area 51, the death of Princess Diana and the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. TOOTSIE (1982) SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959) 7 p.m., 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 Turner Classic Movies (Comcast Ch. 30) What is it about cross-dressing that is so danged funny? Dustin Hoffman: not funny (see: “Ishtar”). Hoffman in a dress: funny. Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon? Mostly not funny, though they have their moments. Shave their legs and slap pantyhose on them, though, and you’ve got a laugh riot. Here for your enjoyment are two of the best dude-looks-like-a-lady films ever, shown back to back in an all-out drag race.

Seems like a bad prescription for beating the all-pro assemblage of talent that dons Alabama garb year in, year out, but the Arkansas Razorbacks started their third quarterback in three years against the Crimson Tide, and the end result was predictable.
