Re: “Food Feedback Friday: pork chops, prego, and picatta

While I do agree that Soup Sunday was the busiest I have ever attended, one event does not a venue change make. It was nice to see all of the rooms and passageways in use. I felt proud of the support for AACF. Also, any scuttlebutt on what is going to fill the old Rocket 21 location? I have heard everything from sports bar, steakhouse, "high-end" hooters style place (whatever that is), and lots of other not really for Hillcrest options.

Re: “Food Feedback Friday: The first of the year

Does anyone have any insight about what is going on in Hillcrest? I noticed that Rocket 21 had "moved" to the Wyndham NLR. No big surprise there. I just assume that a few tables in the back of the Riverfront Steakhouse will be called Rocket 21 from now on. I also heard that there will be another bakery opening up just a few doors down from Rosalia's Family Bakery. Heard rumblings of The Packet House on the sale block and that Lee Richardson may be involved. I couldn't help but notice all of the work being done on the building across the street from Hillcrest Animal Hospital. Heard that was going to be a new restaurant, but parking will be an issue. Don't forget the rumors about The Pantry looking at the old House space for an eastern expansion. Anyone heard anything about any of this? Just curious.

Re: “Insurance premium tax could net state extra $20 million per year under "private option"

Having read Mr. Brill's article in last weeks Time magazine, I am appalled at what the consumer (sick & dying) has to deal with by being billed by the "chargemaster." I was unaware that health care was a negotiable trade in America. After consuming Mr. Brill's argument, it is hard to understand how any person other than a "NON-profit" hospital would be against expanded Medicare coverage for all citizens. If I own a restaurant, I am not able to charge people based upon how hungry they are. I cannot pray upon their thirst to charge exorbitant fees for water, but it seems that hospitals can. They can triple-charge a terminally ill person for care without batting an eye. For all of us who are cared for by UAMS, Children's, St. Vincent, or Baptist, please look at your bills and question them thoroughly. No one should $10 for an aspirin that should be %0.02

Re: “The purple vanilla open line

What the hell happened to Diversions? I can't imagine Joel closing a good thing, and it always seemed to be busy when we were there or passed by.

Re: “A sure thing

We love this place. Lady and I try to make a point of going there once a month for the wed wine discount. Service is always good and quick, and the guy who bartends always seems to know us.

Re: “Todd Gold, other fantastic chefs feted at 2011 Chef Ball

I applaud PTC lauding accolades upon Todd, but has he ever run a successful restaurant(not bought)? It seems that I cannot remember a single restaurant that ms gold has been a part of that didn't end predictably. As in all things, "those who can't do teach" Ginn'Joke-e-o' not withstanding., some can't do either.
