Re: “New editor for the Arkansas Times

And shockingly, the Ark Times hires as its new editor...a white male. Race and sex hiring advice must just be for the readers.

Re: “Livestock director Jon Fitch dies

I knew Jon Fitch and he was the type of man whose word was his bond. The kind of person we unfortunately don't see much of anymore. If he told you something, he'd look you in the eye, shake your hand, and you could take it to the bank. He dealt with people with the best intent and only asked for the same in return. Jon, thanks for all of your years of service to make our state a better place to live. Godspeed my friend, you'll be missed.

Re: “Ban on gay military service repealed UPDATE

Tap,
I did not read your comments as a discussion but rather as pre-judgement statements of fact:

-"From appearances sake, he IS willing to lay all that aside, in part, because he believes homosexuality is a sin. " (you didn't say he may be willing to lay that aside, you said he IS willing to lay that aside. You were wrong.)

-"Norma warned many weeks ago that the outcome of the report wouldn't matter to Sen. Pryor and others. She WAS right about that." (Once again you didn't state that she may be right, you stated that she WAS right about that. You were wrong.)

I am not a lawyer and have a lot of respect for those that are. But I do know the difference between a discussion of a possible action vs. a statement of definite action. I believe most others do as well. I do think it is good that you thanked Mark Pryor for his decision on Dec 8th, hopefully you"ll get the opportunity for that in person meeting to discuss your statements in the lead up to that decision. Thanks for listening.

Re: “Ban on gay military service repealed UPDATE

Tap, While I do appreciate many of your posts and postions I was dissapointed when reading these.

From Nov 29th: "On DADT though, Mark has the cover of a bill that just initiates a process. He has 56 other Senators backing him up. He has the military report saying no harm will be done. And surveys say he would have the support of the American people, generally, in voting to end this invidious discrimination.
From appearances sake, he is willing to lay all that aside, in part, because he believes homosexuality is a sin. " - Tap

Also from Nov 29th: "At some point, an Honorable man or woman says "I won't let someone else's hatred or bigotry or prejudice control me." That's what we're asking Mark to do. I fear he doesn't hear because it's easy to dismiss many of us as anti-Religion, people who will never be happy with him because of his faith.
Instead, I call on Mark to live a higher calling than simply being re-elected." - Tap

From Nov 30th: "I think I understand the Religious Right opposition to repeal of DADT now. Norma warned many weeks ago that the outcome of the report wouldn't matter to Sen. Pryor and others. She was right about that." - Tap

I know we were all wanting to do anything to end this terrible policy. But in our journey to do so we should never become what we we were trying to defeat.

Congrats again to all of the patriotic servicemen and women who can now continue their service without the fear of discrimination.

Re: “Ban on gay military service repealed UPDATE

Tap, while I did see the selective post that you list above on Dec 8th, I was referriing to the many other posts prior to that one that you fail to repost. Those I did not suppose to be naysaying...they were naysaying. For years gay and lesbian service members were pre-judged on thier motives and actions. It was not fair to them nor should it be fair to pre-judge a person who helped end the horrifc discriminatory policy of DADT. Thanks again Mark.

Re: “Ban on gay military service repealed UPDATE

Thanks Senator Pryor for your vote to repeal DADT. You did what you said you would do despite the predictions of the naysayers on the left (Tap comes to mind) and the threats from those on the right.
