Sound Policy first of all in all seriousness thank you for your service to the US of A.

But, I must ask, based on your ideas of "inclusion", should we also relax the id rules for getting on an airplane, buying alcohol, etc.? After all we'd had to leave anyone out right?

Re: “Here's why Republicans want voter ID laws

Applying voter ID as a means to combat election fraud is BS, to put it mildly

Really? So maybe we should tell the TSA to stop asking for IDs for people who are about to get on an airplane, since requiring an ID does not help stop terroristic acts?

And if requiring IDs is discriminatory, why aren't you liberals down at the library protesting that certain groups are not able to get a library book?

Re: “Here's why Republicans want voter ID laws

Having to have an ID is a poll tax? Really? What about the car payment on the vehicle you use to get to the poll? Or the gasoline?

Would it make the liberals happy if IDs were given out free? Would voter ID laws then be ok?

Voter fraud? It's virtually unheard of, for very practical reasons. It would be hard, probably impossible, to send an effective contingent to the polls to claim false IDs to cast ballots without being detected.

This is the exact reason voter id laws are needed. If there is no ID requirement, voter fraud becomes easier, for very practical reasons.

Seriously Max? $25 and 10 miles is too much to expect of people who want to vote? Millions of soldiers died for our right to vote, I would say the least we citizens can do is take the initiative to go across town and get an ID. If the state needs to create a program where the cost is free then so be it. But the excuse that this is not fair to certain groups is ridiculous.
