Re: “Texarkana passes anti-discrimination ordinance

Arkansas side? There are two city councils in Texarkana.

Re: “StudioMain joins the outcry against the 10-lane I-30: UPDATE

A few years ago I visited Vancouver, BC for a couple of days. After traveling around the city the first day, I realized there were no freeways inside the city, only surface streets. Yet, as dense and busy as that city is, trips from the airport to downtown, or downtown to more suburban neighborhoods were no lengthier than in any U.S. city I've visited. Also, the streets we traveled were full of shops, apartments and busy sidewalks. Perhaps ATHD can explain that this is apples and oranges to Little Rock's situation. I've just wondered since that trip how much US cities have sold their collective souls to the 10-lane freeway.

Re: “Stodola touts Main Street; Arkansas Business notes question marks

I have similar concerns about public vs. private funding. But I'm 100% in favor of the bioswale idea, reducing paving and returning cleaner runoff water to the ground. But geeze Louise, grumping about traffic? That sounds surprisingly like my neighbors out on Hinson Road!

Re: “City moves forward on police substation on Highway 10

Agree that there might be other places that need a substation. But don't presume any WLR angst about living next to Pankey. There's little engagement between the two, but then there's little engagement between folks in WLR and anyone who lives more than two doors away.

Incidentally, the Pankey school was torn down over the objections of many of the locals. The current building was constructed on its site but never occupied.

Re: “That Arkansas-Texas bowl game; divided loyalties for many UA students

Every Longhorn fan I've ever met goes to great lengths to establish that UT fans don't give a rip about the Razorbacks. Sure stuck in their craw when the Razorbacks won though.

Re: “LR doctors indicted for health-care fraud

Sorry to hear it, Not. I don't question your experience. Whether there is truth to the charges or not, still a tragedy.

Re: “LR doctors indicted for health-care fraud

The Barrows practice family medicine, so we're not talking about the income of cardiologists or neurosurgeons. They have a comfortable home, not a flashy one in the Heights or Chenal. They raised a lovely, bright, kind daughter. They arranged their practice so you could get in when you were sick, not wait six weeks for an appointment. They were robbed blind by an office manager, and had to sell their practice. I don't know what's behind these charges, but I pray they're unfounded. This is a tragedy.
