Re: “Judge enjoins Little Rock, North Little Rock payments to chambers of commerce

Good work, Jim and Ark. Law Center. The city is short on funds, and this will help close the gap.

Re: “Opportunistic Republicans run for cover on minimum wage issue

I question Westerman's offhand reference to 9.4% unemployment rate in the 4th district, which is 3% above the overall state rate. What is the rate for each of the three other districts? Could this be an inflated figure to flaunt in his race? If any district is going to be high, it would seem to be the First District, with its infamously impoverished black belt of Lee, Phillips, and other Mississippi River counties.
Max, can you shed some light on this?

Great addition to the neighborhood.
I encourage them to add an amenity that Breckenridge Theater now offers: glasses that provide captions for the hearing impaired. It's a terrific service. I now go there for all my movie viewing. It would also put them in compliance with the ADA.

Re: “The personal is political

I heard Cotton at Rotary, and he delivered what must have been a similar speech to the breakfast meeting. It was very detailed, more like a lecture, and difficult to follow. I was struck by his clipped accent and realized that he's been gone from Arkansas so long--since he went to Harvard from high school--that he has lost his Arkansas accent. He sounds like a Yankee. That would explain why he's not taking a speaking part in his commercials. The debates will emphasize the New England v. Homeboy speaking differences.
