Re: “Still wearing white

Christine, there are many, many ways to help the most vulnerable in the state. In fact, my wife and I and our two biologicals happen to be a foster family, and we take in foster children regularly. Guess what? No state money comes our way, it's all handled through private organizations, generally part of a church, or a organization that is actually meant to provide that service. Let government govern.

Re: “Still wearing white

Funny thing is, none of the "cuts" you mention (all I can assume is to incite fear and rhetoric) have yet to materialize. All this while your governor, senate, and house are currently Republican, and mostly the white male you seem to "fear". Your words express a kind of "hidden fear" or a "scare tactic" to incite some sort of uprising, yet your state that voted 60% overwhelmingly in favor of Trump seems to have a balanced budget (a SURPLUS even! Heaven forbid!) and a large number of programs in place (with no plans to cut) for special needs children, childcare, etc.

Maybe you should consider checking with the church you attend and asking about what it is doing to help your community, and maybe offering to help instead of trying to incite fear and bigotry of those ideas oppose? I know the one I attend is much better at caring for the widows, orphans, homeless, and the helpless than our government. After all, that is the purpose of the church. That is the command we are to follow, as a "free-to-worship-how-we-choose" Christian. It is not the governments responsibility to force socialism.

Re: “Over? Did you say over? David Koon comments on Election 2014

Why not quit whining and do something different, like work to find common ground? Why not try compromise? Give a little, get a little? It might do you some good! Things will never get better if you don't make an effort to advance rather than shut down and go into depression-mode. Republicans won, big deal. The majority spoke, loud and clear, now find a way to work to make things better for everyone, instead of just your liberal, leftist views. As for you son and his comment about this GREAT, WONDERFUL, AMAZING state that I love, and have loved, even when controlled by Dems or Repubs, tell him to take his happy tail anywhere else in the world for a while, and when he comes back to the greatest state in US, I'll buy him a beer (in the nearest wet county or ABC approved establishment).
