One other thing. Cats are nocturnal. They hunt in the dark when they have an advantage. If this man killed the cat I daylight it was most likely helping that areas population of predators. If a cat is hunting in the daylight he is doing so for one reason! He is hungry! Anyone with some inclination of wildlife biology would know this. There are two reasons the first is a shortage of food. This is not likely the case because in Arkansas we are seeing a huge comeback in small game. The second is over population of predators which will lead to a decrease in small game causing predators to starve in the long run. So take it for what it is.
Eventually a forest will grow and grow and grow and be so out of control that a wild fire is inevitable.

Re: “Mountain lion killed by deer hunter in South Arkansas

I live in Arkansas and no I haven't killed a mountain lion but I have seen them. As mentioned above if they prey on a human they are dangerous. There was a woman who was attacked some years back. The cat attacked her while she was on Horseback. It did great damage to her and her arm and face will never be normal thank Gid her guide had a pistol and was brave enough to get in between them to guard her and take a shot. I'm not scared of a cat but if they are not scared of humans then they are a huge threat.
