Re: “Lawsuit filed over child's injury from 911 failures in icy pond accident

Just heard from Dayong Yang. The account is still active at Bank of the Ozarks. The account was opened at the Bank of the Ozarks branch at Markham St. and Chenal Parkway, but donations can be taken at any Bank of the Ozarks branch. The account is in Le Yang's name. If you let the teller know, hopefully he or she can find the account.

Re: “Lawsuit filed over child's injury from 911 failures in icy pond accident

I read the transcript of the MEMS operator talking to Jinglei Yi right after the accident. It was agonizing to read knowing that Ms. Yi and her child could not swim. The operator was doing everything she could to try and get Jinglei and her son Le out of the vehicle and onto the roof of the SUV. Jinglei kept stating that she couldn't do it. It's chilling to know that the operator had Jinglei on the phone for approximately 13 and a half minutes. It took the LRFD dive team 12 minutes to get out to the neighborhood. Had the calls gone through to the proper help, it would probably have been a different outcome. Dayong told me that he wanted to jump into the water to try and save his wife and son but that the fireman constrained him to keep him from jumping into the water. I remember the temperature that morning. I left my house at 6:40 am and I saw the black ice and went around it. It was 26 degrees that morning. At the time Jinglei slid into the water, it was probably still just as cold. The city said the water temperature was 47 degrees at 12:30 pm on that day. I pray and hope that no one else has to experience anything as horrifying as what Jinglei Yi and her son did on that morning of January 14th.

Yellowdogdaughter: The donation is at Bank of the Ozarks and it is under Le Yang's name. I helped Dayong Yang set the account up back in February of this year. I will verify with Mr. Yang that the account is still opened at the bank.

Re: “Update on family in botched 911 call case

Yellowdogdaughter, I will. I've gotten to know Dayong and his son Le since this horrible accident happened. Dayong is a very devoted father. A few neighbors and I try to bring a little happiness into his life. He has some good days.

Re: “George Washington's open line

I went by the hospital Friday and through today. He is out of the coma. His eyes open, but he can only see light. He experiences pain and you can see it through his facial expressions. He has a tracheotomy and a feeding tube. It is a very sad situation.

Re: “911 delay reported in fatal accident response

This is just an awful tragedy. Jinglei Yi was my neighbor, but unfortunately I did not know her. She lived 3 streets over from mine. I pray that her son comes out of this okay. I pray that Jinglei Yi did not suffer.

Re: “The line is open

My condolences to the mother who died in today's accident. I pray that her son will be okay. I live in the neighborhood that is by this lake. When I left for work this morning at 6:40 am, I noticed black ice on the road and I detoured around it. There is a stop sign at the intersection of Capitol Hill Boulevard, Cooper Orbit Road, and Rushmore Avenue. I see people run this stop sign all the time. I don't know the circumstances of how this accident happened, but my guess is that the driver ran the stop sign, hit the black ice, and lost control of her vehicle. It was 26 degrees when I left this morning and probably not much warmer when this accident happened.
