What's cooking, April 9

As we've previously reported, Whole Hog Cafe is expanding its porcine empire into Rock Creek Plaza, the shopping center at the corner of Bowman and West Markham that houses, among other things, Hobby Lobby and El Porton. It's scheduled to open, we hear, in two to three weeks. Ron Blasingame, co-owner of the original Whole Hog, will run this new outpost with his wife, Kathy.

Lovers of fresh produce, circle these dates on your calendar. The Certified Arkansas Farmer's Market, now located on the corner of 6th and Main Streets in the Argenta district of North Little Rock, kicks off on Saturday, April 18. Thereafter, it'll be open every Tuesday and Saturday, from 7 a.m. until noon. The River Market Farmer's Market opens on Tuesday, April 21. Thereafter, it'll be open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., also on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
