What's cooking, Dec. 18

West Little Rock 'cue lovers, rejoice. Whole Hog Cafe is expanding its porcine empire into Rock Creek Plaza, the shopping center at the corner of Bowman and West Markham that houses, among other things, Hobby Lobby and El Porton. Ron Blasingame, co-owner of the original Whole Hog, will run this new outpost, likely opening sometime in the spring of 2009.

Fire Fall Grill and Bar, a concept from the Little Rock-based Dixie Restaurants Inc. that owns Dixie Cafe, will close its doors on Dec. 21 at 2513 McCain Blvd. in North Little Rock.

Coming early in 2009: Patio Pizza and Beer Garden. Located at– 3307 Fair Park Boulevard, behind the campus of UALR, the restaurant will offer a typical pizza pub menu: wings, nachos, salads, calzones, sandwiches and pizza. The telephone number is 570-8514.
