Re: “UAMS layoffs begin: Update

So when are they going to actually do some managing of that institution?

I get that there may be some programs that aren't seen as essential, but how about they take a look at: the over-bloated Chancellor's Cabinet (where some salaries have increased 2-3 fold under the past administration - Rahn); the six figure salaries and annual/quarterly bonuses paid to virtually all upper-level c-suite types (even when the hospital is losing money); newly-added, unnecessary layers of administration within the departments (even though the new ICE structure was suppose to "lean things out"); physicians that make a full time wage but work part-time clinic hours; numerous and sundry consultants that are hired (at hundreds of thousands of dollars to millions each) annually; large payouts to fired employees (Melanie Goodhand); over-paid and management-position-heavy IT staff (whom make well over market for the position); etc...

As the former CEO (Roxanne Townsend) once said in a presentation about the new ICE structure of management, "we really don't know how this is going to work out...we're building the plane as we fly it..."
