Re: “Jack Lavey, 1932-2014

In all of the many years I knew and worked with Jack, I can't remember him ever saying "no" to me, nor can i ever remember him lowering his voice. he may have cussed me, told me i was crazy or wrong, but there was never any quit in him. If we were fighting, then he was with us: win, lose, or draw. When i called him and begged him to represent ACORN in this crazy suit to stop the Wilbur Mills, he reminded me he was a civil rights and labor lawyer, so what the heck did he know about environmental law. All, I could ever tell Jack, was that I was the organizer, he was the lawyer, so, damn, he had to know more than me, and all i knew is that i had to have his help. From 1970 right through last 2013, he always stood strong with our organizations as lawyer, board members, friend, comrade, and warrior. Amen. Wade Rathke
